Subject: Perception of Energy
Content: I started this as a reply to one of the threads here but it really touches on several topics in this section so I decided I'd just start a new discussion. For me personally, I rarely initiate aura perception myself. If the aura is visible just naturally, then I figure I'm meant to see it. Most brief interactions, for me, do not yield any extra perceptions whatsoever. The kinds of perceptions I receive in regards to others varies from individual to individual: When I do see the energy of others it might be any number of apects of their energy bodies: A general aura, a focus on one or more energy centers (chakrae) or sometimes even symbols that mean something to me. A few months ago a cat showed up on my front lawn. She began to meow at me as soon as I got out of the car. Her aura appeared to be a dullish yellow, which told me about the infection in her body long before I saw the infected area on her back leg. Now, according to tradition the color I saw could have meant she was 'shy' or 'a day dreamer' or 'manipulative' (according to the info posted in another thread in this section), or it could have meant *"emerging psychic and spiritual awareness; optimism and hopefulness; positive excitement about new ideas" or even "a student, or one who is straining at studying; overly analitical to the point of feeling fatigued or stressed; trying to make up for 'lost time' by learning everything all at once", none of which would have been helpful for me in dealing with this cat! (Who is well now, by the way, and has happily adopted us as her family.) My point is, I personally believe that the one who perceives the energy of others is in the best position to interpret what those colors mean; color perception comes through the 'filters' of each individual, although those 'filters' can certainly be shaped or influenced by traditional information. For me, when I receive energy perceptions I have to take the time to look inside myself, too, and determine what the colors/symbols/other perceptions mean to me personally before I can interpret the reason I've received them. I've done some study of the traditional colors associated with energy centers: red for the root chakra, orange for the navel, yellow for the solar plexus and so on, but when I set aside expectations and open to the information with my own perceptions, the colors - when I see colors at all - rarely match the information presented in books and web sites. Which is not to disrespect tradition; this is my own personal experience. My post here is for the purpose of sharing, to see what kind of discussion will develop. Others' experiences may be very, very different from - but just as valid as - mine. plur * http://www.reiki-for-holistic-health.com/auracolormeanings.html
